As of October 2026, Eastern Bank (EBL) says the password for e-statements downloaded from its self-service portal is your 13-digit EBL account number. For example, Rahim Hossain (made-up), with account number 1041234567890, would type 1041234567890.

The password format

EBL's online statement page says the downloaded e-statement is password protected, and that you open it by entering your 13-digit EBL account number. There is nothing else to add: no date of birth, no name, no mobile digits.

The same page sets out what the service covers:

  • You can download half-yearly and yearly e-statements of your account from the portal, and they are free of charge.
  • It works for singly operated individual accounts and sole proprietorship accounts only.
  • The statement is computer-generated and does not need a signature.
  • EBL asks you to keep your email address updated to receive free e-statements by email.

Worked example

Rahim Hossain (made-up) has a savings account with EBL, number 1041234567890. He downloads his yearly statement from the portal and opens the PDF. When asked for a password he types all 13 digits: 1041234567890.

If his account number appears on his cheque book or debit card slip with spaces or dashes, he types only the digits.

If the password doesn't work

  • All 13 digits. Type the whole account number, including any leading zeros, with no spaces.
  • The right account. If you have more than one EBL account, use the number of the account the statement is for.
  • Not your card number or customer ID. The portal uses the account number, not a debit or credit card number.
  • Joint and company accounts. The portal is only for singly operated individual and sole proprietorship accounts. For joint or company accounts, or other statement types such as credit card statements, EBL doesn't publish a password on this page. Read the email the statement came with, or contact your branch or EBL's contact centre.
  • Statements from other channels. A statement sent by a branch or another EBL service may use a different password. The email or covering note with it is the authority.

Keeping the statement private

Your account number is printed on cheques and shared whenever someone pays you, so this password is easy for others to guess. Don't forward the statement to shared inboxes or leave it in a public folder, and delete copies you no longer need.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once the statement opens, you can keep an unlocked copy so you don't have to type the password every time. On iPhone, iPad or Mac, UnKey does this offline: you enter the password you already know, and it saves a copy without the password on your device. Nothing is uploaded. On a Mac, Preview can do the same with File > Export as PDF. On Android, the PDF opens with the password in Google Files, Google Drive or Adobe Acrobat Reader, and you can save a copy without the password by printing it to PDF. Keep the unlocked copy somewhere private, because anyone who gets hold of it can read it.
