As of October 2026, Standard Chartered UAE says the default password for a credit card eStatement is the first letter of the primary cardholder's name as embossed on the card, followed by the date of birth in DDMMYY format. For example, Fatima Khan (made-up), born 3 July 1990, would type F030790. Account eStatements use your full 11-digit account number.
The password format
Standard Chartered UAE's help centre lists two default passwords:
| Statement | Default password | Bank's example |
|---|---|---|
| Credit card (primary cardholder) | First letter of name as embossed on the card + date of birth (DDMMYY) | David Matthews, born 14 December 1980: D141280 |
| Bank account | Full 11-digit account number | None given |
The date is day, month, year, two digits each, with no separators. The letter is the first letter of the name printed on the card, which is usually your first name. Standard Chartered's example uses a capital letter.
Standard Chartered's eStatements page also says statements are encrypted with a unique password "that will be provided in the eStatement email". If the email gives different instructions, follow the email.
The bank offers two services. With Email eStatement, the encrypted PDF is sent to your registered email address. With View Online, you only get an email alert and you open the statement in Online Banking. Both are available for all bank accounts and all credit cards.
Worked example
Fatima Khan (made-up) is the primary cardholder. Her card reads FATIMA KHAN, and she was born on 3 July 1990.
- First letter of the embossed name:
F - Date of birth as DDMMYY:
030790
Credit card password: F030790. Her current account number is 01234567890 (made-up), so her account eStatement opens with 01234567890.
If the password doesn't work
- Did you change it? Once you change the eStatement password in Online Banking, the default no longer works.
- Forgot your own password? Log in to Standard Chartered Online Banking and open your eStatements there. The bank says no password is needed to view them in Online Banking. You can also reset the password under eStatements > Change eStatement Settings.
- Use the embossed name. If your card shows a different first name or an initial, use the first letter exactly as it is printed on the card.
- Supplementary cards. The help centre describes the password for the primary cardholder. Supplementary cardholders should check the email or ask the bank.
- Account number length. Type all 11 digits, including any leading zeros, with no spaces.
- Update Adobe Reader. The bank says encrypted eStatements need Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.0 or later.
- Call the bank on 600 5222 88.
Removing the password so you don't have to type it again
Once the statement opens, you can keep an unlocked copy so you are not typing the password every month. On iPhone, iPad or Mac, UnKey does this offline: you enter the password you already know, and it saves a copy without the password on your device. Nothing is uploaded. You can also do the same with Preview on a Mac or the "print to PDF" option in most PDF readers. Store the unlocked copy somewhere private, because anyone who gets hold of it can read it.
