As of October 2026, Banque Misr says its e-statements are protected with a variable password sent to you by SMS during each statement cycle. There is no date-of-birth or account-number formula to work out: open the SMS that arrived around the same time as the statement email and type the password it contains.

The password format

Banque Misr's E-statement page describes the service as an electronic account statement in PDF, sent to your email address, and lists among its advantages a "secured account statement with a variable password sent via SMS during each cycle."

In practice that means:

  • The PDF arrives by email.
  • The password arrives separately by SMS to the mobile number registered with the bank.
  • The password changes every cycle, so last month's password won't open this month's statement.

Worked example

Youssef Farouk (made-up) receives his monthly statement email on the 3rd. On the same day he gets an SMS from Banque Misr with a password for that statement. He opens the PDF and types the password exactly as it appears in the SMS. Next month he gets a new SMS with a new password for the new statement.

If the password doesn't work

  • Match the SMS to the statement. If you have several statements or accounts, make sure you are using the SMS sent for that particular statement and cycle.
  • Type it exactly. Copy-paste from the SMS can add a trailing space or miss a character. If the password contains letters, the case may matter.
  • No SMS? Check that your mobile number is up to date with the bank. If you changed numbers, the password will have gone to the old one.
  • Deleted the SMS? There is no formula to rebuild it. Contact Banque Misr through its call centre or a branch, or download the statement again from Banque Misr's online or mobile banking if available to you.
  • Old statements. Keep each month's SMS until you have saved an unlocked copy of that statement, because you will need it every time you open the file.

Because the password changes every month, saving an unlocked copy right after you open each statement saves you hunting for old SMS messages later.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once the statement opens, you can keep an unlocked copy so you are not typing the password every month. On iPhone, iPad or Mac, UnKey does this offline: you enter the password you already know, and it saves a copy without the password on your device. Nothing is uploaded. On a Mac you can also open the PDF in Preview and export a copy. On Android, the PDF opens with the password in Google Files, Google Drive or Adobe Acrobat Reader, and you can then use Print and choose Save as PDF to keep a copy without the password. Store the unlocked copy somewhere private, because anyone who gets hold of it can read your transactions.

Questions

What is the Banque Misr e-statement password?

It is a variable password that Banque Misr sends by SMS to your registered mobile number during each statement cycle. There is no fixed formula.

Can I use last month's password?

No. The bank says the password is variable and sent each cycle, so each statement has its own password.

I didn't get the SMS. What should I do?

Check your mobile number is registered correctly with Banque Misr and contact the bank. You can't work the password out yourself.
