Maybank e-Statement Password: How It Works (2026)
The password you set under Email Statement Delivery in Maybank2u; if you never set one, Maybank defaults it to your date of birth.
| Document | Password | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Email statements (savings, current, loans, credit cards) where you set a password in Maybank2u | The email statement password you chose under Email Statement Delivery in Maybank2u e.g. Whatever you typed when you registered or last changed it | Confirmed by the issuer Source |
| Email statements with the default password | Your date of birth (Maybank lets you 'default it to your date of birth') e.g. Born 12 March 1985: see the exact layout below | Confirmed by the issuer Source |
| Exact layout of the date-of-birth default | Commonly reported as ddMmmYYYY (two-digit day, three-letter month with a capital first letter, four-digit year) e.g. Born 12 March 1985: 12Mar1985 | Commonly reported – not confirmed by the issuer Source |
As of October 2026, Maybank's emailed statements open with the email statement password you set in Maybank2u. If you never set one, Maybank uses your date of birth as the default. The exact date layout most often reported is ddMmmYYYY, so a made-up customer, Lee Mei Ling, born 12 March 1985, would type 12Mar1985. Maybank does not confirm that layout on its website, so check the email your statement came with.
The password format
Maybank is different from most banks. There isn't one fixed formula for everyone. Instead:
- If you registered for email statements in Maybank2u, you chose a password then, or later under Email Statement Delivery. That password opens your statements. Maybank's e-Statement FAQ says that when registering you can "key in your preferred password or defaulted password".
- If you used the default, the password is your date of birth. Maybank's Combined e-Statement FAQ says you can "re-register your email statement password or default it to your date of birth".
Maybank's FAQ pages don't spell out how the date should be typed. Customers commonly report it as day, short month name, full year, for example 01Jan1980. Treat that as likely, not certain.
This covers Maybank e-statements for personal savings and current accounts, loans and financing, hire purchase and individual credit cards. For supplementary credit cards on a joint statement, Maybank says only the primary cardholder can view the e-statement.
Worked example
Lee Mei Ling (made-up) was born on 12 March 1985 and never changed her email statement password. Using the commonly reported layout she would try:
12Mar1985: day, then month as three letters with a capital first letter, then the full year
If she had set her own password in Maybank2u, say a phrase she picked, then only that phrase would open the file.
If the password doesn't work
- Did you set your own password? If you ever registered for email statements in Maybank2u, the password is probably the one you chose there, not your date of birth.
- Reset it in Maybank2u. Maybank's password FAQ says to log in at maybank2u.com.my, go to Settings, then Accounts, choose Email Statement Delivery, tap the three-dot menu, select Edit Details and enter a new password.
- A new password only works on new statements. Maybank's email statement FAQ warns that older emailed statements still need the password that was active when they were sent.
- Download it instead. You can view and download recent statements directly in Maybank2u under your statements, without the email password.
- Read the email. Statements come from addresses such as [email protected]. The email usually says which password to use.
- Not on Maybank2u? Call the Maybank contact centre on 1300 88 6688 or visit a branch.
Removing the password so you don't have to type it again
Once the statement opens, you can keep an unlocked copy so you are not typing the password every month. On iPhone, iPad or Mac, UnKey does this offline: you enter the password you already know, and it saves a copy without the password on your device. Nothing is uploaded. You can also do the same with Preview on a Mac or the "print to PDF" option in most PDF readers. Store the unlocked copy somewhere private, because anyone who gets hold of it can read it.
Questions
What is the default password for a Maybank e-statement?
Your date of birth. Maybank doesn't publish the exact layout, but it is commonly reported as ddMmmYYYY, for example 12Mar1985.
How do I change my Maybank email statement password?
Log in to Maybank2u, go to Settings, then Accounts, then Email Statement Delivery, open the three-dot menu, choose Edit Details and enter a new password.
I changed my password. Why won't my old statements open?
A new password only applies to statements sent after the change. Older emails still need the password that was active when they were sent.
Can a supplementary cardholder open the Maybank e-statement?
Not on a joint statement. Maybank says only the primary cardholder can view it. If the supplementary card has a separate statement, both cardholders can view their own.
