As of October 2026, RHB says the password for an individual's emailed statement is the last 4 characters of your MyKad or passport number followed by your date of birth in YYMMDD format. For example, Siti Aminah, whose MyKad ends in 5678 and who was born on 23 April 1987, would type 5678870423. Business and merchant statements use different formats, explained below.

The password format

RHB sends statements by email as a password-protected PDF attachment. Its statement FAQ lists three formats:

Customer typePasswordRHB's own example
IndividualLast 4 characters of MyKad / passport + date of birth (YYMMDD)MyKad ending 1234, born 10 Jan 1991: 1234910110
Non-individual (company, business)Last 4 characters of Business Registration Number + establishment date (YYMMDD)Registration ending 123A, established 10 Dec 2000: 123A001210
Merchant (merchant statements only)Last 4 digits of merchant ID + first 4 characters of company nameMerchant ID ending 4321, UNIVERSAL SHOP SDN BHD: 4321UNIV

Note the date order. It is year, month, day (YYMMDD), not the day-first order most people are used to. There are no spaces, dashes or slashes.

RHB says this applies to statements it emails for savings, current, multi-currency, credit card, commercial card, PayLater, unit trust, bond and sukuk investment accounts, merchant statements, and loan and financing accounts such as home, auto and personal financing. Fixed deposit statements are not sent by email.

Worked example

Take a made-up customer, Siti Aminah:

  • MyKad number: 870423-10-5678, so the last 4 characters are 5678
  • Date of birth: 23 April 1987, so YYMMDD is 870423

Her password is 5678870423.

For a made-up company, Kedai Maju Sdn Bhd, with a registration number ending in 456B and set up on 5 March 2012, the password would be 456B120305. If the same company receives a merchant statement and its merchant ID ends in 7788, that statement opens with 7788KEDA.

If the password doesn't work

  • Check the date order. The most common mistake is typing DDMMYY. RHB wants YYMMDD.
  • Use the ID RHB has on file. If you opened the account with a passport and later got a MyKad (or renewed your passport), RHB may still hold the old number. Try the last 4 characters of the ID you used when opening the account.
  • Letters in the ID. Passport and business registration numbers can end in a letter. Type it exactly as it appears in RHB's records. RHB's examples show capitals, such as 123A and UNIV.
  • Older statements. RHB announced a new password format for emailed statements in 2023. Statements from before that change may use an older password. It was commonly reported at the time to be your date of birth, but RHB's current FAQ doesn't confirm that.
  • Read the email. The email that brought the statement normally explains the password. Check it before trying anything else.
  • Ask RHB. If none of this works, contact RHB customer service. You can also download your statements from RHB Online Banking instead.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once the statement opens, you can keep an unlocked copy so you are not typing the password every month. On iPhone, iPad or Mac, UnKey does this offline: you enter the password you already know, and it saves a copy without the password on your device. Nothing is uploaded. You can also do the same with Preview on a Mac or the "print to PDF" option in most PDF readers. Store the unlocked copy somewhere private, because anyone who gets hold of it can read it.
