To open an HSBC Malaysia credit card statement PDF, type your date of birth as ddMmmyyyy, followed by the last 6 digits of your credit card number. For example, someone born on 28 August 1977 with card number 4921 0000 0012 3456 would type 28Aug1977123456.
The password format
As of October 2026, HSBC Malaysia's Bank Statement FAQs say: "The password required to open your eStatements/email statements is your date of birth in ddMmmyyyy format, followed by the last 6 digits of your credit card number." The answer sits in the credit card/-i section of that page, so it covers HSBC and HSBC Amanah credit card statements.
The password has two parts, with no spaces between them:
- Date of birth as ddMmmyyyy: two-digit day, then the first three letters of the month in English with only the first letter capitalised, then the four-digit year. 5 March 1992 becomes
05Mar1992. - Last 6 digits of your credit card number: the final six digits of the 16-digit number on the card.
That makes 15 characters in total. The same FAQ also says that passwords are not needed to open eStatements. It doesn't say which channel that line covers. Most likely it means statements you view after logging in to HSBC online banking. The password matters for the PDF that arrives by email or that you have saved to your phone.
Worked example
Tan Mei Ling (made-up) was born on 9 November 1985. Her HSBC Visa card number ends in 1234 5678.
- Date of birth as ddMmmyyyy:
09Nov1985 - Last 6 digits of the card number:
345678
Password: 09Nov1985345678.
If the password doesn't work
- Check the capitals. Only the first letter of the month is a capital:
Aug, notAUGoraug. - Keep the leading zero on days 1 to 9:
09Nov1985, not9Nov1985. - Use the full year. This format takes four digits, such as 1985, not 85.
- Use the right card number. If your card was replaced (after a loss, an upgrade or fraud), the statement may use the number of the card that account is under now. Try the card in your wallet first, then the old one. HSBC's FAQ doesn't say whose details apply to supplementary cards, so check the statement email.
- Date of birth on record. Use the date of birth HSBC has for you. If it is wrong in HSBC's records, contact HSBC to fix it.
- Read the email. The statement email normally gives the password hint, and that email is the final word if HSBC changes the format.
- Log in instead. You can download the same statement from HSBC online banking or the HSBC Malaysia app.
Removing the password so you don't have to type it again
Once the statement opens, you can save a copy without the password. On iPhone, iPad or Mac, UnKey does this offline: you type the password you already know, and it saves an unlocked copy on your device. Nothing is uploaded. On Android, open the PDF with the password in Google Drive or Adobe Acrobat Reader, then print it to PDF to save a copy without the password. Keep unlocked statements somewhere private, because they show your card details and spending.
