As of October 2026, Bank of India (BOI) statement PDFs are commonly reported to open with the first 4 letters of your name in lowercase followed by your day and month of birth (DDMM). For Kavita Rao, born 21 November 1992, that would be kavi2111. Bank of India does not publish this rule on its website, and some statements are reported to use the account number instead, so check your statement email.

The password format

Bank of India's website describes e-statements and statement downloads but does not state the PDF password. The most widely reported pattern is:

  • the first four letters of your name as recorded by the bank, in lowercase
  • followed by your day and month of birth as DDMM, without the year

At least one guide says statements sent by email open with your full account number, and that the name and date of birth pattern applies to statements from the BOI mobile app. Because sources disagree and the bank has not confirmed either, the email or screen your statement came with is the best guide.

Worked example

Kavita Rao was born on 21 November 1992. Her account number is 123410110012345. These details are made up.

  1. First four letters of her name in lowercase: kavi
  2. Day and month of birth: 2111
  3. Try kavi2111 first.
  4. If it fails, try the account number 123410110012345.

If the password doesn't work

  • Lowercase letters. In the reported format the letters are lowercase, so KAVI2111 would not work. Turn off auto-capitalisation on your phone keyboard.
  • Name as on your passbook. Use the name exactly as the bank recorded it. If your account says "K Rao", the first four characters may differ from your first name.
  • Leading zeros. 5 March is 0503, not 53.
  • Check the channel. A statement from net banking, the app or email may each follow a different rule. The message that delivered it usually says which.
  • Joint accounts. The details used are normally the first account holder's.
  • Still stuck? Visit your branch or contact Bank of India customer care to confirm the name and date of birth on record. The bank will never ask for your password or OTP.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once you know the password, you can save a copy of the Bank of India statement without it, so it opens straight away next time or can be uploaded to a loan, visa or tax portal that rejects locked files. On iPhone, iPad or Mac you can do this with UnKey: open the PDF, enter the password once, and save an unlocked copy. It works offline, nothing is uploaded, and any password you choose to save stays in your device Keychain behind Face ID or Touch ID. UnKey only removes a password you already know; it does not guess or crack one. Other PDF tools, including the print-to-PDF option on most computers, can also save an unlocked copy.

Questions

What is the Bank of India statement password?

It is commonly reported as the first 4 letters of your name in lowercase plus your day and month of birth (DDMM). Bank of India does not publish this, so check the email the statement came with.

Does the BOI password include my year of birth?

In the commonly reported format, no: only the day and month as DDMM.

Is the Bank of India statement password case-sensitive?

Yes. The reported format uses lowercase letters, so capitals will not work.

What if the name-based password fails?

Some emailed statements are reported to use the full account number. If neither works, ask your branch to confirm your details.
