As of October 2026, BOBCARD says statements sent by email or SMS open with the first four letters of the name on your card in capitals, followed by your date of birth as day and month. For Deepak Joshi, born 23 February 1985, that is DEEP2302. The format is also stated in the email the statement arrives with.

The password format

The BOBCARD FAQ, under "How to Open my Credit Card Statement?", says: "Statement sent to you through SMS / Email are password protected. To view enter first four letters of the name on the card (all in upper case) followed by the date of Birth i.e. DD/MM."

BOBCARD writes the date as DD/MM. In practice this means four digits, day then month, without the slash: 2302 for 23 February. There is no year.

BOBCARD is the credit card company of Bank of Baroda (formerly BOB Financial Solutions). This rule covers BOBCARD-issued cards; for Bank of Baroda savings account statements, see that bank's own rules.

Worked example

Deepak Joshi was born on 23 February 1985 and his card shows DEEPAK JOSHI. His details are made up.

  • First four letters of the name on the card, capitals: DEEP
  • Date of birth, day and month: 2302
  • Password: DEEP2302

If the card were embossed "D JOSHI", the four letters would be taken from that printed name, so look at the card rather than guessing.

If the password doesn't work

  • Capitals only. BOBCARD says all upper case. deep2302 will not work.
  • Drop the slash. Type 2302, not 23/02. If four digits fail, try once with the slash, then stop and check the email.
  • Leading zeros. 5 March is 0503.
  • Name on the card. Use the name as embossed. Initials and spaces on the card affect the first four characters.
  • Get the statement another way. BOBCARD's FAQ says you can download monthly statements in the BOBCARD mobile app or web portal (the last 24 months are available), by sending STAT followed by the last 4 digits of your card by SMS to 9223172141, or by sending "Hi" on WhatsApp to +91-7208476628.
  • Still stuck? BOBCARD lists toll-free numbers 1800 2665 100 and 1800 2667 100 on the same FAQ page.

Keep the statement safe

Your BOBCARD statement shows your spending, credit limit and part of your card number. The password uses details many people know, your name and birthday, so it is light protection only. Do not forward the PDF to anyone who asks for it by phone or message, and never share your card PIN or OTP.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once the statement opens, you can save a copy without the password, so it opens straight away next time or can be uploaded to a loan, visa or tax portal that rejects locked files. On iPhone, iPad or Mac you can do this with UnKey: open the BOBCARD PDF, enter the password once, and save an unlocked copy. It works offline, nothing is uploaded, and any password you choose to save stays in your device Keychain behind Face ID or Touch ID. UnKey only removes a password you already know; it does not guess or crack one. Other PDF tools, including the print-to-PDF option on most computers, can also save an unlocked copy.
