HDFC Bank does not publish its credit card statement password on its website. As of October 2026, it is commonly reported to be the first four letters of your name in capitals followed by the last four digits of your card. For Ravi Kumar with a card ending 4321, that would be RAVI4321. The exact rule is stated in the email your statement arrives with, so check that first.

The password format

HDFC's NetBanking FAQ explains that account statement PDFs open with your Customer ID, and how to manage credit card e-statement settings, but it does not say what the credit card statement password is. The formats below come from third-party guides and cardholder reports, not from HDFC Bank.

FormatExampleStatus
Name (4 letters, caps) + last 4 card digitsRAVI4321Most widely reported; not confirmed by HDFC
Name (4 letters, caps) + DOB as DDMMRAVI1505Reported by some guides; not confirmed by HDFC

Do not confuse this with an HDFC savings account statement. HDFC says those open with your Customer ID, which is a different rule.

Worked example

Ravi Kumar was born on 15 May 1990 and his HDFC credit card ends in 4321. His details are made up.

  • First four letters of his name, in capitals: RAVI
  • Last four digits of the card: 4321
  • Most commonly reported password: RAVI4321
  • If that fails, the other reported variant: RAVI + 1505 = RAVI1505

If the password doesn't work

  • Read the statement email. HDFC's statement email states the rule. Because HDFC does not publish it online, this is your most reliable source.
  • Capitals. Most reports say the letters must be upper case: RAVI4321, not ravi4321.
  • Name as per bank records. Use the first four letters of the name HDFC has for you, usually as printed on the card. Initials and short first names change the four letters.
  • Right card. If you have several HDFC cards or your card was reissued, use the last four digits of the card on that statement.
  • Download it instead. Statements can be viewed and downloaded in HDFC NetBanking or the HDFC Bank app under your credit card. A downloaded copy may use a different password, or none, so read the instructions on screen.
  • Still stuck? Contact HDFC Bank credit card customer care.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once the statement opens, you can save a copy without the password, so it opens straight away next time or can be uploaded to a loan, visa or tax portal that rejects locked files. On iPhone, iPad or Mac you can do this with UnKey: open the HDFC PDF, enter the password once, and save an unlocked copy. It works offline, nothing is uploaded, and any password you choose to save stays in your device Keychain behind Face ID or Touch ID. UnKey only removes a password you already know; it does not guess or crack one. Other PDF tools, including the print-to-PDF option on most computers, can also save an unlocked copy.
