As of October 2026, ICICI Bank says the password for your credit card statement PDF is the last 4 digits of your credit card number. If Meera Pillai's card number ends in 5821, her statement opens with 5821. ICICI also says you cannot change or reset this password.

The password format

ICICI Bank's own guide to viewing your credit card statement online says it "only supports the last 4 digits of your credit card number as the password for the credit card statement PDF." The same page says the password cannot be customised and cannot be reset.

That makes ICICI one of the simplest card statements to open: no name, no date of birth, just four digits. The exact rule is also stated in the email the statement arrives with, so if ICICI ever changes it, the email is the place to check first.

Worked example

Meera Pillai holds an ICICI Bank credit card numbered XXXX XXXX XXXX 5821. Her details are made up.

  • Look at the last four digits printed on the card, or in the masked number at the top of the statement email: 5821.
  • Type 5821 when the PDF asks for a password.

If Meera has an add-on card for a family member, she should use the digits of the card the statement was issued for. The masked card number in the email shows which one that is.

If the password doesn't work

  • Check which card. If you have more than one ICICI card, each statement uses its own card's last four digits. Match the masked number in the email.
  • Replaced or reissued card. If your card was replaced after loss, upgrade or expiry, the number may have changed. Try the digits of the card that was active for that statement period.
  • Old formats you may have read about. Older guides say ICICI used your name plus date of birth. ICICI's current page says only the last four digits are supported, so try those first. For very old statements, the email they came with states the rule that applied at the time.
  • Typing on a phone. Some PDF viewers add a space or switch keyboards. Type the four digits slowly with the number pad.
  • Download a fresh copy. You can view and download statements in iMobile or ICICI internet banking. A fresh download can rule out a damaged attachment.
  • Still stuck? Contact ICICI Bank customer care. They cannot change the password, but they can confirm the card number on the statement.

Is the password safe if it is only four digits?

A four-digit password is mainly there to stop casual opening if an email is forwarded by mistake. Treat the PDF as a sensitive document: it shows your spending, limit and partial card number. Avoid storing unlocked copies in shared folders.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once the statement opens, you can save a copy without the password, so it opens straight away next time or can be uploaded to a loan, visa or tax portal that rejects locked files. On iPhone, iPad or Mac you can do this with UnKey: open the ICICI PDF, enter the password once, and save an unlocked copy. It works offline, nothing is uploaded, and any password you choose to save stays in your device Keychain behind Face ID or Touch ID. UnKey only removes a password you already know; it does not guess or crack one. Other PDF tools, including the print-to-PDF option on most computers, can also save an unlocked copy.
