Canara Bank Statement Password Format (2026)

Canara Bank statements are most often reported to open with your Customer ID (CIF number), with the full account number reported for some statements; the bank does not publish the format on its website.

As of October 2026, Canara Bank statement PDFs are most often reported to open with your Customer ID (CIF number), typed as digits only. If Deepak Rao's Customer ID is 123456789, the password would be 123456789. Some statements are reported to use the full account number instead. Canara Bank does not publish the rule on its website, so check your statement email.

The password format

Canara Bank's website, including its mobile banking page, explains how to view and download statements but does not state the PDF password. Across guides, two formats come up:

The format may depend on how you got the statement: monthly email, net banking, the Canara ai1 app, or a WhatsApp banking request. The email or message that delivers the PDF usually says which details to use, and that instruction is the one to trust.

Worked example

Deepak Rao has Customer ID 123456789 and savings account 1234101000123. Both numbers are made up.

  1. Try the Customer ID: 123456789
  2. If that fails, try the full account number: 1234101000123
  3. If neither works, read the statement email again for the stated format.

Type the numbers exactly as they appear in your passbook, as one continuous string. On a phone, copying the Customer ID from the Canara app and pasting it into the password box avoids typing mistakes. Most PDF readers let you try again straight away if the first attempt fails, so you can test both formats in a few seconds.

If the password doesn't work

  • Find your Customer ID. It is printed on the first page of your passbook and shown in the mobile app and net banking. It is different from your account number.
  • Digits only. Do not add spaces, slashes or the branch code.
  • Old Syndicate Bank accounts. Syndicate Bank merged into Canara Bank in 2020. Use your current Canara Customer ID and account number, not the old Syndicate ones.
  • Joint accounts. Each holder has their own Customer ID. Try the one belonging to the holder the statement was sent to.
  • Different channels. A statement downloaded from the app or net banking may show its password rule on screen at the time of download.
  • Still stuck? Use Canara Bank's contact page or visit your branch. Canara Bank says its staff will never ask for your password, PIN or OTP.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once you know the password, you can save a copy of the Canara Bank statement without it, so it opens straight away next time or can be uploaded to a loan, visa or tax portal that rejects locked files.
