HDFC Bank Statement Password Format (2026)
Your HDFC Bank Customer ID (CustID), the numeric ID you use to log in to NetBanking.
| Document | Password | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Savings/current account statement downloaded from NetBanking (PDF) | Customer ID (CustID), digits only e.g. Customer ID 51234567: 51234567 | Confirmed by the issuer Source |
| Savings/current account statement downloaded from the HDFC Bank App (PDF) | Customer ID, which is your NetBanking numeric user ID e.g. Customer ID 51234567: 51234567 | Confirmed by the issuer Source |
| Monthly account statement sent by email (reported) | Customer ID, digits only (commonly reported; HDFC does not state it for emailed statements on its website) e.g. Customer ID 51234567: 51234567 | Commonly reported – not confirmed by the issuer Source |
As of October 2026, HDFC Bank says the password for an account statement PDF is your Customer ID (CustID), the numeric ID you use to log in to NetBanking. If your Customer ID is 51234567, the password is 51234567.
This applies to savings and current account statements downloaded from NetBanking or the HDFC Bank App. The exact rule for any file is also stated in the email or download screen it came with, so check there if in doubt.
The password format
HDFC Bank's NetBanking FAQ says: "The password is your Customer ID (CustID)." It adds that this is shown in the note on the Account Statement download page when you choose PDF, and again in the download message.
HDFC's guides to downloading a statement through NetBanking and downloading it in the HDFC Bank App say the same thing: use your numeric Customer ID, which is your NetBanking user ID.
- What it is: your Customer ID, digits only.
- What it is not: your NetBanking password (IPIN), your account number or your date of birth.
- Emailed monthly statements: HDFC's website does not spell out the password for statements it emails you. They are widely reported to use the same Customer ID, but this is not confirmed by the bank, so read the instructions in the statement email.
Worked example
Priya Sharma has an HDFC Bank savings account. Her chequebook and welcome letter show Customer ID 51234567. She downloads three months of statements as a PDF from the HDFC Bank App.
- She opens the PDF and is asked for a password.
- She types
51234567. - The statement opens.
Her name, date of birth and account number play no part in it.
Where to find your Customer ID
- Your welcome letter, and the first page of your chequebook, passbook and account statement.
- Your NetBanking login: the numeric user ID you type to log in is your Customer ID.
- HDFC's Find your Customer ID page, which lets you retrieve it online with your registered mobile number, your PAN or date of birth, and an OTP.
If the password doesn't work
- Use the full number. Type every digit of the Customer ID as it appears, with no spaces. If it has leading zeros on your documents, include them.
- Not your IPIN. The NetBanking password you log in with is different from the PDF password.
- Joint accounts. Each holder has their own Customer ID. Try the ID of the holder who downloaded or received the statement.
- Emailed or older statements. If a statement came by email or is several years old, read the password note in that email; formats can change over time.
- Credit card statements are different. HDFC credit card statements use their own password rule; see our HDFC credit card statement guide.
- Still stuck? Download a fresh copy from NetBanking or the app, where the password note is shown on screen, or contact HDFC Bank through its official website. HDFC will never ask for your NetBanking password or OTP.
Removing the password so you don't have to type it again
Once you know the password, you can save a copy of the HDFC Bank statement without it, so it opens straight away next time or can be uploaded to a loan, visa or tax portal that rejects locked files. On iPhone, iPad or Mac you can do this with UnKey: open the PDF, enter the password once, and save an unlocked copy. It works offline, nothing is uploaded, and any password you choose to save stays in your device Keychain behind Face ID or Touch ID. UnKey only removes a password you already know; it does not guess or crack one. Other PDF tools, including the print-to-PDF option on most computers, can also save an unlocked copy.
