As of October 2026, Indian Overseas Bank says detailed statements from its mobile banking app open with the first 4 digits of your CIF ID followed by the last 4 digits of your registered mobile number. For Meena Iyer, CIF ID starting 1234 and mobile ending 6543, that is 12346543. Statements downloaded from IOB net banking open with your account number.

The password format

IOB publishes the statement password in its user manuals. Which one applies depends on where the PDF came from.

Mobile banking: detailed statement

IOB's mobile banking user manual says, for the detailed statement of operative (savings/current), deposit and loan accounts: Password is "First 4 digits of CIF id and last 4 digits of mobile number". Your CIF ID is your customer ID, printed in your passbook and shown in the app and net banking profile.

Net banking: downloaded statement

IOB's net banking user manual says that under Pending Requests for download, you "can download the statement and open the password protected file using the account number as the password".

Statements sent by email

IOB does not publish a separate rule for monthly statements sent by email. If your statement came by email, look for the password instruction in that email. If there isn't one, try the two formats above.

Worked example

Meena Iyer has CIF ID 123456789 and registered mobile 98400 76543. Her account number is 123401000012345. All of these are made up.

  • First 4 digits of the CIF ID: 1234
  • Last 4 digits of the mobile: 6543
  • Mobile banking statement password: 12346543
  • Net banking download password: 123401000012345

If the password doesn't work

  • Match the format to the channel. A statement from the app will not open with the account number, and a net banking download will not open with the CIF and mobile combination.
  • Use the right ID. The CIF ID is not your account number. Check your passbook's first page or your profile in the app.
  • Registered mobile. Use the mobile number IOB has on record. If you changed your number recently, statements made before the change may use the old one.
  • No spaces. Type digits only, without spaces or hyphens.
  • Joint and business accounts. The CIF ID and mobile used are normally those of the customer who generated the statement.
  • Still stuck? Check IOB's internet banking FAQ or visit your branch to confirm your CIF ID and registered mobile. IOB staff will never ask for your login password or OTP.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once you know the password, you can save a copy of the IOB statement without it, so it opens straight away next time or can be uploaded to a loan, visa or tax portal that rejects locked files. On iPhone, iPad or Mac you can do this with UnKey: open the PDF, enter the password once, and save an unlocked copy. It works offline, nothing is uploaded, and any password you choose to save stays in your device Keychain behind Face ID or Touch ID. UnKey only removes a password you already know; it does not guess or crack one. Other PDF tools, including the print-to-PDF option on most computers, can also save an unlocked copy.
