Kotak Mahindra Bank account statements are most often reported to open with your CRN (Customer Relationship Number). If your CRN is 123456789, the password would be 123456789.

As of October 2026, Kotak does not state this password on its website, so this is commonly reported, not confirmed by the bank. The email your statement arrived with states the exact format; check it first.

The password format

Several finance websites say Kotak savings and current account statement PDFs use your CRN as the password. The CRN is the customer number Kotak gives you; it is also your Net Banking and mobile banking login ID. We could not find this rule on a Kotak page, so we cannot confirm it.

  • Reported password: your CRN, digits only, with no spaces.
  • Other claims: a few sites mention your date of birth (DDMMYYYY) instead. These are less common and also unconfirmed.

Worked example

Meera Iyer has a Kotak savings account. Her CRN is 123456789.

  1. She opens the statement PDF from her email.
  2. She reads the password note in the email body.
  3. If it says CRN, she types 123456789.

If the email describes a different format, she follows the email instead. The covering email always takes priority over any general guide, including this one.

Finding your CRN

Kotak says you can get your CRN by sending an SMS saying "CRN" from your registered mobile number to 9971056767 or 5676788 (see Kotak's online account information page). You also use it to log in to Kotak Net Banking and the Kotak app.

If the password doesn't work

  • Read the email. The covering email or download screen is the most reliable guide to the format for that file.
  • Type the full CRN. Digits only, no spaces.
  • Try your date of birth. If the CRN fails, DDMMYYYY (for example 15051990) is the other format reported.
  • Joint accounts. Each holder has their own CRN. Use the CRN of the holder the email was sent to.
  • Download it again. Kotak's guide to getting a bank statement online covers downloading statements from Net Banking and the Kotak app, which may show the password rule at download time.
  • Credit card statements are different. See our Kotak credit card statement guide.
  • Still stuck? Contact Kotak customer care through the official website. Kotak will never ask for your password or OTP.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once you know the password, you can save a copy of the Kotak statement without it, so it opens straight away next time or can be uploaded to a loan, visa or tax portal that rejects locked files. On iPhone, iPad or Mac you can do this with UnKey: open the PDF, enter the password once, and save an unlocked copy. It works offline, nothing is uploaded, and any password you choose to save stays in your device Keychain behind Face ID or Touch ID. UnKey only removes a password you already know; it does not guess or crack one. Other PDF tools, including the print-to-PDF option on most computers, can also save an unlocked copy.
