As of October 2026, Union Bank of India statement PDFs are most often reported to open with the first 4 letters of your name in capitals followed by your day and month of birth (DDMM). For Suresh Patel, born 3 February 1985, that would be SURE0302. Union Bank does not publish this on its website, so check the email or screen your statement came with for the exact rule.

The password format

Union Bank of India's internet banking pages explain how to get statements but do not state the PDF password. Most guides agree on this pattern:

  • The first four letters of your name as recorded by the bank, in capital letters
  • followed by your date and month of birth as DDMM, without the year
  • with no spaces or symbols

Some sources say statements from net banking or certain emailed statements use your Customer ID or account number instead. Because neither format is confirmed by the bank, read the email that delivered your statement: Union Bank usually states the password format there, and that instruction overrides anything you read online.

Worked example

Suresh Patel was born on 3 February 1985. His Customer ID is 123456789. These details are made up.

  • First four letters of his name in capitals: SURE
  • Day and month of birth: 0302
  • Password to try first: SURE0302
  • If that fails and the email does not say otherwise: 123456789

If the password doesn't work

  • Capital letters. SURE0302 and sure0302 are different passwords. Make sure Caps Lock or your phone's shift key is on for the letters.
  • Name as the bank has it. Use the name exactly as it appears on your passbook. If your account is in the name "S Patel", the first four letters may be SPAT, not SURE.
  • Short first names. If your first name has fewer than four letters, the letters usually continue from the next part of the name. Check the email for the exact rule.
  • Leading zeros. 3 February is 0302, not 32.
  • Joint and business accounts. The details used are normally the primary holder's or the business name on record.
  • Still stuck? Visit your branch or contact Union Bank customer care to confirm the name and date of birth on your account. The bank will never ask for your internet banking password or OTP.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once you know the password, you can save a copy of the Union Bank statement without it, so it opens straight away next time or can be uploaded to a loan, visa or tax portal that rejects locked files. On iPhone, iPad or Mac you can do this with UnKey: open the PDF, enter the password once, and save an unlocked copy. It works offline, nothing is uploaded, and any password you choose to save stays in your device Keychain behind Face ID or Touch ID. UnKey only removes a password you already know; it does not guess or crack one. Other PDF tools, including the print-to-PDF option on most computers, can also save an unlocked copy.
