As of October 2026, Bank of Maharashtra (BOM) statement PDFs are reported to open with the first 4 letters of your name in lowercase followed by your date of birth in DDMM (day and month only). Pooja Deshmukh, born on 9 November, would type pooj0911.

The password format

Bank of Maharashtra does not publish the PDF password rule on its website, so the formats on this page come from independent guides that agree with each other. Treat them as commonly reported, not officially confirmed. The email or message that delivered your statement states the exact format, and it is always the one to trust.

Easemoney and ScanPilot both describe the same 8-character rule: four lowercase letters, then four digits.

Worked example

Pooja Deshmukh (made up), born 9 November 1992:

  1. First 4 letters of the name, lowercase: pooj
  2. Day and month of birth: 0911
  3. Password: pooj0911

Someone born on 5 March types 0503 for the date part, keeping the leading zeros.

If the password doesn't work

  • Name as per bank records. The letters come from the name BOM holds. If your account is in the name "R Chandak", the first four characters may be different from your first name.
  • No year. Use DDMM only, not DDMMYYYY.
  • Lowercase. pooj0911, not POOJ0911.
  • Short names. ScanPilot reports that names under 4 letters are padded with x ("Om" becomes omxx); check the statement email if this applies to you.
  • Customer ID. ScanPilot mentions the Customer ID as an alternative some statements use.
  • Joint accounts. The primary holder's name and date of birth are reported to be used.
  • Read the statement email, which states the format, or ask your branch.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once you know the password, you can keep a copy of your Bank of Maharashtra statement that opens without it, which also helps when a loan, visa or tax portal rejects locked files. On iPhone, iPad or Mac you can do this with UnKey: open the PDF, enter the password once and save an unlocked copy. It works offline, nothing is uploaded, and any password you choose to save stays in your device Keychain behind Face ID or Touch ID. UnKey only removes a password you already know; it cannot guess or crack one. On Android, the PDF opens with the password in Google Files, Google Drive or Adobe Acrobat, and printing it to PDF saves a copy without the password. On a computer, the print-to-PDF option in most browsers does the same.
