FYERS contract notes open with your PAN in capital letters. If Ravi Kumar's PAN is ABCPK1234L, he types ABCPK1234L.

As of October 2026, FYERS's own article How to read a contract note and why it matters says: "As the contract note contains sensitive information, it is password protected. For FYERS traders and investors, the password is your PAN in capital letters."

The password format

Type your 10-character PAN with every letter in upper case and nothing added before or after it. The same rule applies to the copy emailed after your trades and to one you download again from the website.

Worked example

  • Account holder (made-up): Priya Sharma
  • PAN: BQKPS4821M
  • Contract note password: BQKPS4821M

Typing bqkps4821m fails because the letters are lower case.

Downloading a FYERS contract note again

FYERS's article gives the path on its website: log in at fyers.in, open My Account, then Reports, then Bills & Contracts. Pick the date and download the note. The downloaded file uses the same PAN password.

If the password doesn't work

  • Caps lock. The PAN letters must be capitals. abcpk1234l will not work where ABCPK1234L is expected.
  • No spaces. Phone keyboards and copy-paste sometimes add a space at the end. Type the PAN by hand if pasting fails.
  • Whose PAN? Use the PAN of the account holder. For a parent's or spouse's account, it is their PAN, not yours.
  • Is it really a contract note? A Consolidated Account Statement (CAS) from NSDL or CDSL, or a mutual fund CAS from CAMS or KFintech, follows its own rules. Check who sent the email.
  • HUF or corporate accounts. Use the PAN of the HUF or company that holds the account.
  • Still stuck? Check the email the contract note came with, then raise a ticket with FYERS support.

Why keep your contract notes

The contract note is the legal record of each day's trades, with prices, brokerage, taxes and exchange charges. You need it to check charges, to raise a dispute, and at tax time when capital gains are worked out. Keeping one unlocked folder per financial year saves digging through old emails.

Removing the password so you don't have to type it again

Once the file is open, you can save a copy without the password so you are not typing it every time you need the contract note. On iPhone, iPad or Mac, UnKey does this offline: you enter the password once, it saves an unlocked copy, and nothing is uploaded anywhere. It only works when you already know the password; it does not guess or crack passwords. On Android, the file opens with the password in Google Files, Google Drive or Adobe Acrobat Reader, and you can usually save a copy without the password by printing it to PDF. Keep the unlocked copy somewhere private, because it shows your trades and PAN.
